Thunder of the North: A Viking Commander's Battle Cry to Glory

A Viking Commander

By the Gods of the North, I call to you. This day, our hearts beat in unison with the ancient drums of war that called forth our ancestors from Valhalla’s mists as we stand on destiny’s threshold. We are no longer mere mortals but rather embody the raging power of Thor, the trickery of Loki and Odin’s wisdom. And so it is today that we write our epic using courage as ink and swords as pens.

Look to your left or right. These are not unknown faces but countenances belonging to those who share blood ties with you; though bound together by an indissoluble chain of honor and loyalty, they are linked not by blood. Together, we have survived storms more violent than those which sought to claim us; now we face a storm made up of flesh and steel. As for numbers however do not let them scare you because a Vikings’ strength lies within his heart.
Our foes have stepped on our land, polluted our sacred places and jeopardized everything we are. They mutter about the end of us as they hide in the dark, believing foolishly that we will tremble at the sight of their flags. However, they don’t know about the songs that excite our hearts to joy; neither do they understand how stories of courage put us to bed nor do they realize about what kind of glory awaits us in heaven.

We are not battling for loot today but for what posterity says about us. Let this be a day when bards sang of the North’s fury on those who trifle with its sons and daughters’ rage.Tell them how the ground quaked under our feet; tell them how rain came down heavily while we resolved to continue fighting till death with valor.
Remember my fighters every slash you make is a line in your personal epic. Do not just fight to live but strive so that your name may reverberate across ages as an example to others assuming positions similar to ours now, facing unexplored phenomena with same unwavering attitude.

Today, we will remember why they seas obey us and why the wind carries our stories all over the world. Today is one day to make them witness the metal that makes up a Viking’s heart which has been strengthened by thousands of winters without end or war.
And if we dine in Valhalla tonight, let us welcome the gods as equals for we are Vikings and therefore bowed to no one. Our saga is not about defeat but triumph; not despair but hope, because together we stand so no one can ever conquer us.

Then brothers and sisters raise your axes! Above the countless clashing swords let your battle cries be heard, as you sing songs of defiance and freedom into fury. Forward into battle with storm’s rage and crow’s deceit; today we carve our fate for we are thunder breaking chains, fire melting ice and force shaping everything else.
Go forth then to fight for glory; for honor; for the best story life would ever tell!
